In December, the Marshall Academy Board of Directors and MJ Management Services, Inc. honored their teachers for outstanding instruction of the students of Marshall Academy. The board and management company recognize the tremendous role carried by teachers in the achievement levels shown by academy students. Through the annual education report and by the process of applying for reauthorization through Ferris State University, its authorizing agent, the academy has once again highlighted the strong level of achievement on both the MEAP tests and the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) which is taken at all grade levels. These standardized tests show above grade level achievement in most every area in all grades. Congratulations, teachers, on a job well done!
Five years ago Marshall Academy set forth with strong academic goals which continue to drive the programs and instruction. These goals include providing a curriculum based on moral values that encourages steady academic progress from year to year, assuring that students master the classic fundamentals of learning, involving parents in the school program in an effective, meaningful way, integrating the seven universal virtues into the overall program, maintaining reasonable class size, and maintaining a highly qualified teaching staff that carries on the academy's mission. This year's teaching staff is all returning teachers who are dedicated to these goals. They certainly are deserving of the special honor.
