New Headmaster Named At Marshall
Academy
A new Headmaster greeted
Marshall Academy students when
the new school year started in
early September. The Academy’s
School Board recently appointed
Brent Swan to lead the local
Charter Public School. Mr. Swan
has extensive teaching and
school leadership experience,
most recently with Endeavor
Charter Academy in Springfield.
In addition to teaching 5th
and 7th grades at
Endeavor Charter Academy, Swan
was the Athletic Director and an
Academic Dean. He also led a
team that researched and
developed the writing curriculum
for the Academy. Mr. Swan holds
a Bachelor of Science in
Elementary Education from Malone
College, and a Masters in
Educational Leadership from
Grand Valley State University.
For Brent Swan, accepting the
new position as Headmaster comes
at an important period in the
school’s short eight year
history. “This is an exciting
time for Marshall Academy. The
school continues to perform well
academically, recently receiving
a 2007 School Report Card
student achievement grade of ‘A’
from the Michigan
Department of Education.
Marshall Academy has attracted
many students from the area and
expanded over the summer to
accommodate the growth. A new
13,000 square foot addition
opened this fall, with new
classrooms, computer and science
labs, and locker rooms. I am
honored to be leading the school
into the future.”
